Baku Hosts Serbia's Statehood Celebration

The Serbian Embassy in Azerbaijan held the Statehood Day event on February 17 to commemorate the outbreak of the Serbian revolution against Ottoman rule. The revolution ultimately resulted in the recognition of Serbia's statehood by Ottoman Empire.

After playing the national anthems of the two countries, Serbian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zoran Vajovic briefed the event participants on the country's development history, and achievements in the political, economic, and other spheres.

The ambassador voiced satisfaction for high-level relations between the two countries and highlighted the need for the development of ties in various fields.

Vajovic said the history of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia dates back to 1997, and noted the visits of the presidents of the two countries play a significant role in the development of these relations. He also said to date over 20 documents have been signed between the two countries.
